Our first post - introduction

Welcome to our blog; this is our first posting.

My name is Audra and our family moved from the utlra-thriving, ever-increasingly sprawling over-populated Northern Virginia to a sleepy Southwestern Georgia town of about 6,000 in October, 2003.

Blakely is a beautiful town, quaint, charming, filled with beautiful flowering trees, gorgeous old buildings and wonderfully friendly people! This town is affectionately referred to as the Peanut Capital of the World because more peanuts are produced in Early County than any other county in the nation.

We moved here to purchase the Fuqua home. Built in 1922 by Doc and Lucile Fuqua, John's grandparents, it is a large home on a 4-acre corner propertyin town. Thankfully over the years the original moldings, heavy solid-wood six-panel doors and crystal knobs have been salvaged, original windows remain on the home along with the narrow pine wood flooring throughout. That said, there are still many, many issues with a nearing-100 year old home!

John is a chef by trade and this move provided the financial means to open Georgia Brown Restaurant in Blakely. Next month we will celebrate being open a full 5 years!! A HUGE milestone for a restaurant! We are so proud of our business and happy with this achievement.

Recently, we have ventured out into an online e-commerce storefront. Chic Girls Boutique is the outcome of having two beautiful daughters that I have spoiled rotten. I have found a love for boutique clothing for girls and still love the trendy name brands too...this just morphed into a business for me along the way. You can visit this store at www.chicgirlsboutique.com

Our blog will be a weekly posting of our thoughts, adventures, musings about everything and nothing. Thanks for stopping by.
